Regarding Hired Livery

The Ocean Grove Memorial Home is required to provide the use of specialized automobiles (and equipment) for specific reasons, a vehicle for first call at the place of death, a service car for errands, a hearse and a procession lead car, sometimes a flower car and often a limousine for the immediate family. We own all the aforementioned vehicles except a limousine...which we hire from a commercial livery company as needed.

Estimated charges will be quoted on the Statement of Funeral Services Selected for all livery that we provide and that estimation will include:

The charge for the use of the vehicle and a driver, in all cases...and:

For a limousine only, a gratuity for the driver.

Out of town transportation charges, when necessary, will be solicited and quoted by the funeral home or by the livery service that you choose. Highway Tolls are additional. Waiting time is additional. Side trips are additional.

The following vehicles are owned by the funeral home. No gratuity is necessary.

Vehicle for transportation of the decedent from the place of death
(Assistance, such as when the death is at home, is at additional cost.)

Black Buick Hearse

Transportation for flowers to the local place of final disposition

A Vehicle to pick up and deliver various items locally

The following vehicles are NOT owned by the funeral home.

Sedan or Limousine

At your request, a five passenger sedan or a seven or eight passenger limousine will be hired for you by the funeral home.

Two livery services are readily available and are recommended by the funeral home. We are prepared to make the appropriate contact and arrange for your transportation on the day of the funeral ceremony upon your request. As a gratuity to the driver is appropriate, we will also include and advance the standard gratuity on your behalf...the gratuity is based on a percentage of the cost of the use of the vehicle as recommended by the livery service. (If you are not satisfied with the service provided by the driver, please notify us and you won’t be charged for the gratuity.)

CLAYTON AUTO SERVICE (of Spring Lake, N. J. A 20% gratuity is recommended)

WILNER’S LIVERY SERVICE (of Edison. N. J. An 18% gratuity is recommended)
